In a major effort to increase the YMCA’s membership and visibility in downtown Pittsburgh, DRS Architects was selected to design a new branch in the U.S. Steel Tower.  This facility sets the new image for future YMCA projects through standard finishes, graphics and other materials.  The facility is planned for LEED certification through sustainable practices in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as the recyScled and recyclable materials that energize this branch fitness center.  The facilities include, a large weight training, cardio and equipment room, rooms for spinning, aerobics, Pilates, yoga; locker rooms; the existing mezzanine houses administrative offices.
