This project was completed via the design/build method with the Baltimore Corps of Engineers. DRS was responsible for the design phase of the project and assisted the BCOE in preparing the Design/Build RFP. DRS also participated in the selection of the D/B Team and monitored the final design and construction process. This project consisted of providing a state-of-the-art advanced super-toxic chemistry laboratory and an administrative facility. The facility supports highly trained research personnel in the study of super-toxic chemical warfare agents, lethal industrial materials, related weapons of mass destruction, and defensive counter-measures. The facility will include both wet and dry laboratories that will use oversized, custom-built chemical fume hoods. The labs will require ultra-efficient exhaust systems, sophisticated ventilation and air distribution systems and environmental controls, and electrical backup systems. |
