Measures taken out of necessity proved to be the inspiration for new laboratory space for the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine.

The organization expanded into warehouse buildings when it outgrew its existing facility, which was built in the 1970s. This solution laid the foundation for the DRS proprietary “ultimate flexible laboratory” concept — using a large building shell that contains laboratory spaces that can expand or contract without major structural renovations.

The Army will build several structures to contain nearly 140,000 SF of laboratories, and the original facility will store archives, samples and administrative offices.
