From its inception, the Ronald McDonald House Charities move to Lawrenceville had a green emphasis.  Foremost was the directive to re-use as many of the existing walls and finishes as possible while supporting the overall operational effectiveness.  On the energy side, all lighting was selected with energy conservation in mind, whereas the best practical fixtures were astutely positioned and feature occupancy based controls.  The original heating and ventilation unit that served all corridors was replaced with a new unit that recovers most of the energy of the exhaust air stream, resulting in more comfort and energy savings.
